IBJJF Lisbon 2027: the Europeans are back near Lisbon
The 2027 European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship, often searched as IBJJF Lisbon 2027, runs from January 13 to 23, 2027 at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Odivelas (Alameda do Porto Pinheiro, Odivelas), just north of Lisbon. It's the biggest IBJJF tournament in Europe: thousands of athletes fly in, from juvenile divisions to masters and adult black belts.
If you're competing, or just coming to watch, you'll probably spend a few days in the city. Here's everything you need in one place: dates, fees, the day-by-day schedule, practical info, and where to train during your trip.

Practical info for athletes
- Weigh-in happens right before your first fight, in kilograms, with one attempt only. Over the limit means disqualified from your division.
- Arrive early: be in the gym and the bullpen at least one hour before your division's estimated start time. Watch the bullpen screens, they are the only official call.
- Bring ID: an official photo ID or your IBJJF membership card, shown before each fight.
- Adult black belts need 40 ranking points to register, and a royal blue gi plus a white gi from the quarterfinals onward.
- Anti-doping: athletes may be tested under the WADA Prohibited List.
Watching as a spectator
Good news: spectator entrance is free. Juvenile athletes can bring one companion for free on their competition day. Food, flags, pets and professional cameras are not allowed inside, and filming or live-streaming fights is forbidden. Doors open about one hour before the first match.
Getting to the venue
Odivelas is the last stop of the yellow metro line (Linha Amarela), which runs from central Lisbon. Check the walking route from Odivelas station to Alameda do Porto Pinheiro on a map app before your competition day, and plan extra time: thousands of people head to the same place every morning.

Tips for Europeans week
- Message gyms early. During Europeans week, many gyms get a lot of visitors. Send a quick Instagram message a few days before to confirm drop-in and class times.
- Ask about competitor-friendly sessions. Some gyms run lighter sessions or open mats for visiting athletes during big tournaments.
- Plan your weight. January in Lisbon is mild, but you'll be eating out a lot. Keep a scale in your bag.
- Stay after your division. The tournament runs for more than a week, so if your bracket is early, you have time to train, recover and watch the black belts on the final weekend.
